It's important to stay informed on the "why" Ai data centers are so problematic. This video from @floodlightnews.org and PBS is a great example of what is actually going on with facilities like these. The same thing applies to Ai data centers in Michigan.

In clips from the site of the Saline data center, so many of the speakers talk about how welcoming the community has been, that our input was vital and heard. Bullshit. We don’t want this. We didn’t get a voice. The decision was made without us, to use our resources to line their own pockets.

‼️They are setting up the Saline data center as a template to roll out these monstrosities in other communities. That’s why they keep lying about the residents of Saline “welcoming” this project; they want others to see us embracing the data center. Nope. We oppose it. We just don’t get a voice.

We need real AI regulation to create guardrails and protect the ability for young people to have a job. We need leaders who aren’t bought off by Big Tech.

Sam Altman is in town declaring victory on a data center project they had to pass without public comment. We need Terms of Engagement at the federal level to keep Big Tech from rolling over state and local governments to shove projects down our throats without clear protections.

DTE wants state regulators to sign off on a 20-year deal to power Google’s massive “Project Cannoli” data center in Van Buren Township, a 1-gigawatt energy hog that would consume enough electricity to rival roughly 60% of Michigan homes.

All seven members of the Augusta Township Board are now fighting a recall effort tied to their votes to rezone 522 acres for a proposed hyperscale data center near Milan. A Washtenaw County judge has scheduled a hearing for May 13 to decide whether the approved recall language should stand.

Big Tech wants to plant a data center on 14 acres of city-owned land on Detroit's east side, and locals are pushing back hard. Detroit City Council voted 6-2 to urge a two-year moratorium on all data center permits while the city figures out basic regulations it doesn't even have yet.
