The Mayor’s office canceled a meeting with EPNI on 8/25 about a change to the Roof Depot purchase agreement, which EPNI proposed on 6/27. The Mayor holds the power to negotiate a fair deal for East Phillips & each day that passes without reply deepens a long legacy of neglect in this neighborhood.

In the midst of harvest season and purchase preparations, many of us at EPNI got together on Friday! We ended the day so full of gratitude for this neighborhood, everyone who has stewarded the community’s vision for the Roof Depot over the years & all of you who are here helping to defend it today 💫

On June 27th EPNI sent the city a proposed solution for the purchase of the Roof Depot site. It’s been a month and we haven’t heard anything back. It is time to transform this incredible building that has sat empty for a decade into a vessel for fresh food, jobs, joy and overdue justice 🌱

This past Seed Saturday we danced to Arcadian & Chino’s music while weeding in the hot humidity. It was a great turnout and the plants appreciated all the extra care. On 4/29, we met with our friends at the Little Earth Urban Farm to celebrate and cultivate, through the annual planting of Three Sisters Mounds. Most of our learners were youth, and we toasted marshmallows and planted corn, beans and squash together under a beautiful sunset.
