Planned to spend this week of my maternity leave catching up on beta reading (I’m behind) but unfortunately my toddler’s daycare is closed for an indeterminate amount of time so I may not get as far as I hoped

Somehow in the midst of the sleepless nights of being up with a newborn while on maternity leave, I finally finished my plot outline for my rewrite and I’m so happy! So tired too but also so happy

I desperately want to read and write but I’m so mentally exhausted after work that the moment I have free time I just lay there like a log. It’s been months and I know it’ll get better but it feels endless and I’m tired.

Everybody clap I wrote the first paragraph of my rewrite this morning after weeks of nothing. But don’t clap too loud, I promised myself I’d write a synopsis before I started working on the actual book and there’s still no synopsis in sight.

I really wish I was one of those people who was cool and mysterious about writing and just showed up to my betas with a finished draft as a surprise. But unfortunately I cannot keep a secret for a second and also I basically constantly need people to talk things out with

Started to crochet a crayon (or crayololo according to my 18mo) and I thought it would be a simple little project to get back into crocheting. 3 nights in and this thing still isn’t done because I underestimated how big it is.

Woke up at 2am with a really cool line AND I immediately wrote it down so I wouldn’t forget. Rereading it back now, it’s good but doesn’t fit into my draft anywhere. So that’s a bummer

Writing descriptions are my downfall. If it were up to first draft me. Everybody would be a blank slate in a background less world with no smells or anything

Walked into work today thinking it would be chill and quiet because last week was. Today has been the funniest and most absolutely insane day in a while. People say the funniest things when they’re demanding things right before the end of the year!

2024 was such a weird rushed year but I knew that would be the case going into it. 2025 is about getting back to creativity. Writing, painting, and redoing my space to feel more like me.

I’m like 3/4 done with my book and I woke up this glorious Christmas morning and came up with a wayyyy better way to rewrite my whole middle. Is this a Christmas gift or a Christmas curse?
