So @kronogarrett.bsky.social and @rushsupern.bsky.social did a thing with @lostlands.bsky.social Kaiju OC, and I was in the mood so I did a quick and dirty rendering of him as a balloon in my card game, albeit not as wide. He won't actually be in the game, this was just a creative exercise.

So I saw this hero wars ad on Tv tropes, and I must say, it's surprisingly progressive given that they decided to put all the treasure in her head instead of her boobs and ass. Though I wonder what statement is being made by putting deadly lava in her thighs...

After some comments on the discord for my card game, I've been fooling around with the idea of a strategy game based on the same balloon dodgeball premise of the card game. Dunno if I'm going anywhere with this but it's fun to experiment with and make the inflatable balloon standees.

Actually I decided to clean this and ink it to warm up as I'm getting back to artwork, also consider sharing this and who know, maybe Gel as feral wolf happen to get even larger.

Okay so an age old question just came back to me... can someone tell me where this expression came from? and why it shows up in Japanese media so often? like, do people do that with their mouths? where did this come from? does it even have a name?

also, I'm honestly kinda interested in Pokémon champions being on mobile as well as on switch. for what we think will be a battle simulator, that would make it very accessible to get people on board as it now has a much lower cost of entry...

So with the release of new starters comes another few months of folks bemoaning the chance that they (or lets be real here, the dog specifically) becomes a biped. I find it annoying because it's a very arbitrary and ill defined stance that never really lasts after the forms are revealed...

Interesting thing to think about is imagining how anthros cope with vestigial instinctual behavior, we've got many of them too as humans and I've seen stuff about exotic animals in captivity having hardwired behaviors, like young beavers creating little blockades in hallways...

we've been steadily working on card art for this game, some more complete than others but the ultimate goal is to get something on each card, we can refine it down the road. Wanted to share a collage of some of the card images we've done thus far. it's fun to see a variety of styles on display.

Wanted to share some of the amazing work Halcifer has done in our card game so far. In Ballonomancy you can use magic run stickers to make your balloons even more swole than normal! that's one of the tactics green players like to employ, as their strategy is to get big and win big!

So in learning about Journey to the west, I've learned that apparently that's where most if not all anime nonsense comes from. No wonder it get's referenced so often! Also it's got a lot of beef with Taoism it seems, granted I think it's partially supposed to be Buddhist propaganda.

Wukong's been on my mind mainly because I've been doing some study on Chinese myth and legend, starting with journey to the west. part of it is gathering inspiration for something, part of it is also just so I can finally know about the series that get's reference all the time in media.

I mentioned this a year ago but I still feel kind of weird about wukong being in metazoo, but I also don't have a strong argument for why he shouldn't be in here. It seems like the reboot expands into creatures of myth and legends and not explicitly cryptids...

Okay so I just cracked this open and I really want to share it because the art is absolutely fire and the artist really cooked with this! This is the type of art I love in tcgs, where the environment is as important as the subject of the card

You know, American children's media would be lost without the xylophone. Like seriously, every alphabet song would be in a real awkward situation with the letter "X" otherwise.

So I'll admit that I've been steadily collecting metazoo 2 cards, not only are booster packs cheap at $4 a pack but the artwork is vibrant and lively. Only one shop sells them here and I think I'm the only one buying them, but that's fine, everything else is getting annoyingly expensive.

Life is rough but you have to carry on, it's easy to feel glum after a big setback and it's easy to start catastrophizing. I probably need a break from news in general as well, especially when it's just one big parade of horrible things.

It sucks really, like there's no guarantee that life and your environment will get better but it will most certainly get worse and each day gives more evidence of it. What is there to hope for really? What is there to believe in? All I can do is hang onto what little I still have.

It's so hard to keep hope anymore, feels like despite my efforts, my life is steadily going out of hand. can't find better work at all and what I'm doing is barely making ends meet. it feels like it's only a matter of time before I find myself on the streets again in my vain efforts to stay afloat.

So I've been working on initial illustrations for cards in my card game, mainly for the starter decks I've been working on, starting with the red one. Evasion is important in a game of dodgeball with balloon creatures, and red has the best evasion options out of the 4 color.

Every day brings with it a new set of bad news from society at large to my immediate circumstances. It's hard to feel hope for the world and life in general.

I honestly find it quite annoying how often I find myself getting stuck on youtube shorts. it always starts with that one curious video and then you're in a chain of shorts. It's like falling for the same dumb trap over and over again. I don't want my attention span weathered away!

Been doing some study on seam placement and inflatable design from something @kronogarrett.bsky.social shared with me. Main thing I've gleamed is a sort of "beachball"or bloated cube pattern that seems to make up most of the forms.

Update: it ended up being a new PFP for the funny inflation PMDnD game

and furries love to talk that command grab inflation thing you can do to him with Jedah but no one talk about how is right up impossible to land it in a real fight because that mf move too much and it was during a time Capcom made command grabs too short in range.

Been working on stuff with my card game to help with teaching new folks how to play it, created a new playmat with turn phase reminders, and a PDF Game manual that exists on the table in TTS. It's a lot of work but hopefully it pays off, at least the new mats look nicer than the old green ones.

So once again, I made the mistake of trying to play Commander again. This time ended with a condescending lecture on why I should consider playing more competitively so that game could go quicker! And this is coming from the guy playing a multiple upkeeps + treasure tokens spam deck...

Been looking through old dev recordings, this was basically a proof of concept for bossfights and the whole idea of "strain damage" caused by keeping a boss overinflated as an alternate way of dealing damage. the boss sprite was borrowed from @squidblimp9x.bsky.social

Lately I've been thinking about that gamemaker RPG I was working on, the one that's basically earthbound but you can inflate enemies and they inflate too and stuff. Been contemplating getting back onto it, but am also mildly frightened about the spaghetti code I'd have to return to...
