So you know, Vivi and Gon are interesting examples of the downside of media crossovers, where if an obscure character becomes meta in a competitive game in the worse way, they end up with a far larger hatebase than they do fanbase. These days, most folk that know of these two utterly hate them.

So Twitter released this new thing where you can just send AI to edit any public image, and I'm morbidly curious if any bad actors have utilized it yet. the implications are spooky but I kinda wonder if the social consequences at risk are keeping anyone from casually trying it yet...

Some rough sketches that began with me exploring an idea for an ice behlbeste that was more of a design foil to their fire counterpart, wearing a jacket instead of shorts and having a flat and angular head design influenced by avalugg. Although they kinda just look like fat sergals in retrospect.

So it's the day before christmas, and as I look upon all the art I've been thinking to myself, I really need to get a reason to just draw again, like in a way that's decoupled from my projects like Balloonomancy, where there i'm stalled by this desire for strong presentation of it...

I wonder if there exists furry artwork of an anthro that is a handler of normal animals, but it's the prey animal of that given anthro. Like a fox that keeps chickens or a wolf that Shepherd's sheep. Or a shark/pelican that owns an aquarium or an anteater with Ant terrariums...

People talk about the AI bubble bursting and that it will crash the economy and stuff and I just want to know how this bubble bursting is going to cause food prices to skyrocket and people in jobs unrelated to tech to get laid off. It's not that far reaching, is it?

Of course, when I say that I haven't drawn seriously, I mean high end, fully rendered images, lined and colored and all. I've been drawing still, especially for my card game, but still mostly just been doing very fast and very crude illustrations, not stuff people would pay money for.

So due to my current financial situation, I've been thinking about getting into doing commissions again for some supplemental income. Of course the first thing is getting back into practice with seriously drawing again, as I haven't really done it in a good while...

I should probably also say, I'm always open to get some new playtesters on board for this card game. Right now it's just me and a few friends but if you are interested and have tabletop simulator then just let me know!

So in Balloonomancy, Cards are broken up into 4 main color divisions defined by it's pool of themes and general strategy. here's a pile of cards from each. Art is all over the place, some old, most new, nearly all of it temporary. most is by me but @balloogabu.bsky.social has done some blue cards.

And I do have to limit myself to 10 minutes on a drawing because otherwise I get way too committal to what is supposed to be temporary art. While it means I can get stuff made and I don't get too attached to a card if it's not working out. They still look real rough and ugly...

But that's a dilemma really, how do you talk about an in progress card game? Without knowledge of the rules all people have to work off of is card art, but when you don't have that either then what? Like I doubt people want to see my crude 10 minute illustrations.

I've been making a lot of progress on my card game project. while card art is still crude, temporary, or even absent, I've been making improvements on the rules formatting and layouts. it's often hard to talk about a card game you are making when there isn't much exciting to show off.

So I haven't been hearing much good about Legend Z-A, I'd imagine that the game is probably a bit anemic but is the battle system fun at least?

Found this card in the bulk boxes of my local card shop. Doesn't seem like a particularly good card but the art looked sick so I just bought it! I've heard nothing good about Aetherdrift But I really do dig the way this card looks and wonder if there's others in this style.

concept sketches and illustrations for balloons of the blue color group, this specific class is known by the fact they wield plastic prop weapons and training swords to score a hit against players. it skirts the rules of the in-universe dodgeball game but blue does a lot of mildly cheat-y stuff.

Along with inflatable magic spells in purple, you have a class of balloons that are inflatable sorcerers themselves. Balloons are all magical by nature but these take it further beyond just being animate. This image is actually really old, like 2 years old from an earlier draft of the game.

Card art of another one of those elemental balloons, in game they are called "SpellBeasts" This is one that while I can certainly do better on, I'm pretty happy with how it came out, a giant, glowing inflatable thunderbird ready to descend on this hapless player.

These are card illustrations for cards in the purple color group, elemental themed inflatables that are styled to be like personifications of magic spells, and are named after popular fantasy magic spells. The colored ones were older while the two monochrome ones are more recent.

More recent sketches of that really big beast balloon. not used in any cards, just been wanting to work on the design. His name is "Silverfoot" by the way.

Some assorted concept sketches, The bats are one division of balloons but another consists of round/pear shaped beast creatures that are the bigger, stronger dodgeballs. The yeti-like one is the base design with others riffing off that one design, main thing they have in common is body shape.

Another rough illustration done for the card game, fumbled the perspective on it a bit but I'll redo the art eventually. Basically, this one has the game's equivalent to "Haste" from games like MTG, where it can come at people as soon as it enters play. wanted to represent that on the card image.
