Solidworks Motion Study on the rear drive tandem axles. Pretty impressed by how powerfull that tool is! Input speed 100RPM, output after the 1:4.45 gear reduction in the axles ~23RPM With wheels on that would equate to around 0.6KM/h. Obviously the real input speed will be much higher than this.

Axles are nearing completion now. Significantly more work than initially anticipated, but I think the results were well worth it.

More progress on the fuel tanks. The mounts are closed to finished except for a few small details now. The tanks themself need further work since they’ll need to be split as these are to contain batteries and electronics. Also filler caps, hose fittings, and other details are still to be done.

Ford LTL 9000, a defining truck of the 70’s into the late 90’s when it’s production stopped. Introduced in 1976, and from 1996 forward #Ford heavy trucks went on as the #Sterling brand, later to become part of #Daimler. A true icon of #trucking in the US and Australia and still on the roads.

Some of the early renders on the #Ford LTL 9000 #3Dprinted #RC model (scale 1:7.4). This model in it’s base configuration (it will be customizable eventually) will be around 105cm in length. The model is made to impress! It will be as accurate as it can be, within limitations of 3D printing.

Another update on the #3DPrinted #Ford LTL 9000 project. Work started on the fuel tanks and mounts for them on the frame. Plenty work to do on it before it’ll be done, but it fills the frame very nicely since it will carry a total of 4 tanks (2 on each side of the frame).

A little progress update on the #Ford LTL 9000 mostly #3Dprinted #RC project. As mentioned in an earlier post a 1/7.4 scale model. Total length of the truck is 105cm, with the wheels being around 145mm in diameter (40mm wide). This thing will be huge.

Working on a mostly #3Dprinted highly accurate Ford LTL 9000 (RC) scale model. Rear suspension is moving along nicely, though plenty of work to do on it. Modeled after the Hendrickson RTE suspension which was one of the options to come on this semi from factory.
