Went searching/pricing hotels in/near my hometown for my upcoming visit in 2.5 weeks. Electing to forego the honor/torture route for now & have booked a room at the Golden Host in Sarasota. Side benefit of choosing them: the Bahi Hut tiki bar is onsite. If I imbibe, I can stumble to my room.

Going to be looking at booking a hotel for my trip back home in a couple of weeks. I may be torturing myself a bit with where to reserve a room… …do I carry through booking a room at the hotel my family stayed at when we first moved there in 1974, or some other place…? Me, and my brain, folks.

A brief note to let everyone know I’m…here. Thank you for your concern, condolences; and to those who have reached out via text & DMs so far.

Received news a short bit ago. My father passed away yesterday morning. He was at home under hospice care and my step-mother was with him in his last moments. No viewings are planned aside from a graveside ceremony of his cremains in Sarasota under military honors set for January 8th, 2026.

Well…this was a pleasant surprise that was a longtime in coming. In my prior tenure with my employer in their tech support dept I would randomly speak with a peer in a sister site who was an Aussie. Now that I am in a different dept, that has not occurred; much to my aural sadness… 1/2

And this is why I HATE that my employer has moved/hosted a good portion of their stuff on a cloud service: major AWS outage has literally hobbled operations for us today. 🤬

Well…please pray for me as I attempt doing a thing graphic design-wise. Recently saw an element that would—in my opinion—make for a decent piece for use by @batuupride.bsky.social. Bear in mind, I have NO graphic design experience to really speak of. Just rare, random, brain-flashes that hit me.

This past Sat I was out and about handling errands. Had my trusty iPod Nano (7th Gen) w/me to keep me entertained. It appears I have lost my wee audio pal. I haz a sad and accept I shall need to replace it as I prefer to keep music/podcasts/etc on a separate device instead of on my phone… 🫤
