Today would be a great day for CNAS, CSIS, Brookings, Atlantic Council, RAND, IDA, CNA, & every veterans’ advocacy group to say an attack on NATO over Greenland would be a crime under US and international law and it would shatter American military capacity for generations. They won’t say a word.

The bar for non-peaceful protest is extremely high, one I have never thought to advocate for in the U.S. in my lifetime. I believe we have crept up on that bar, as state sanctioned domestic terrorism has been unleashed in an indirect declaration of civil war by the administration.

So a CBS Evening News reporter actually did a pretty solid breakdown of the ICE murder video, talking to a former agent who details all the ways Ross messed up. And yet: It didn’t air on the actual show tonight. CBS did post it to YouTube—and it has nearly 800k views already

It was a murder. A murderer decided he wanted to murder someone today and then did. There is no ambiguity or whataboutism; case law is clear that someone not a danger to others that is running away cannot be shot at. You do not have to be prosecutor or lawyer to recognize and understand this.

Learning a bit about orbital simulations. I'm using the REBOUND package and get pretty close to the Laskar solution of Earth's eccentricity evolution for the next 1 million years (including the 8 solar system planets and Pluto), but without relativistic effects. 1/2

NCAR is a unique & valuable asset - far more than a climate model, or observations, or technology, or training ground, or gathering space. It covers weather, space weather, data, climate, paleo-climate, and everything in-between. It's building is an icon, but it's iconic status goes far beyond that.

It appears that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has, within the past week, scrubbed a large amount of climate change content from its official website, as well as *removed human-caused warming* from the discussion on its "causes of climate change" page.

Maybe it is a lost battle after all, if after the first modeling in the 1960s, or Hansen's testimony in the 1980s, or six iterations of IPCC reports, "it's not the apocalypse" is seen as a coherent standard or a worthy point of attention.
