It's really weird to watch the news and then go back to work and realize that my job is sometimes to make sure that a glyph is moved up or down by 1 pixel so that it doesn't make someone slightly irritated while they're trying to avoid looking at the news.

What a world we live in: Wanted to test mouse DPI related issues in our game. Grabbed a Logitech mouse so I could be certain what DPI I'm working with. To change the DPI, needed to download software. That software needs to talk to logitech servers. Can't reach those servers behind firewall.

I saw someone say that 80% of software engineering is maintenance and it made me feel so seen.

This might come from a place of anger and frustration but I truly believe that 90% of game developers haven't actually inspected why they want to make a game. Majority case is "I rememeber this successful game and I would like to imagine a world in which I thought of it first".

I think most game dev teams underestimate how damaging slow workflows are to the ultimate quality of their game. If it takes 5 minutes to launch the game and see your changes, I think your game is going to be MUCH worse than the alternate timeline where it took 1 minute

I think part of the reason that guy got in is because he's done such cartooninshly evil stuff that, when you hear about it, you could be forgiven for believing his opponents are simply vilifying him. But like, no: seems like he actually did most of the stuff people are hinting at. It's insane.
