The foolish dream

I don't have much mental capacity for posting anymore. I've lost motivation for it, which I suppose it's pretty normal for a traumatized brain like mine. It's a shame. I wanted to start my webcomic this year, 5 months of it is passed and my brain has turned into slime.

These days, more than ever, I wonder if trying to be a comic artist was a dream too big for where I'm from. I tried to cheat everything and trick myself into thinking I can be like others in the world. I can be like them. I can have the same dreams and accomplish them.

Sequential art will humble you. It is very easy to assume that being AMAZING at individual illustrations would translate to instantly being amazing at comics, but it is a completely different skill set with completely different rules you will only learn by just Making More Comics.

Every time I see the discourse about what kind of art is "moral" and anyone who makes "problematic art" should be cancelled and called out and when I see such things are made some sort of law... it's like I'm living the the aftermath of where such laws lead.

I think we could do with a little less "Don't worry, I'm allowed to make this art because I'm traumatized in these ways." and a lot more "Don't worry, I'm allowed to make this art because I'm allowed to make any art. And also, it's none of your fucking business whether or not I am traumatized."
