I'm probably going to kick myself at being confused by an "easy" bird in Australia, but I really have no idea what this is? It flashed by at Mistral Point, Maroubra, Sydney and was always heading away. I did think of a large shearwater sp but the bill looks wrong - help, please! #birding

Went for a wander around some of the lesser visited areas of #Sydney #Australia today, before a fairly big storm. 48 lifers on the #birding front so far just walking around the local area, with heaps to come.

A female curlew in the New Forest has become the oldest known living curlew in the UK, a powerful reminder of just how long these birds can live, this individual is almost 34 and was ringed in 1992. Read the story: buff.ly/DAunaSV

There's either nothing doing, or it's all go from a #UKBirding perspective in Bedfordshire. A cracking group of 5 Little Gulls dropped into Broom GPs early this afternoon (noted by Matt K), before departing north after approx 45 minutes of flycatching. I never knew they hunted Coots though 🙂

I was only 10 minutes away from Lanark when I saw news of someone (thank you!) finding a bean goose sp with Pinkfeet. Went for a look, and it turned out to be a Tundra #BirdingScotland

I reckon this front bird is 1 of those weird Pinkfeet with (not very) orange legs, rather than anything else, but I'd be interested in any opinions, thanks #BirdingScotland

Spent some time trying to find any White-billed Divers upriver of the Forth Bridges with no luck, so nipped across to Inverkeithing and saw 2 of 3 in that area #BirdingScotland #BirdsSeenIn2026

Another magical Hen Harrier experience in the @birdinglothian.bsky.social #BirdingLothian area. The bird landed directly in front of me, then sat in the winter sunshine for about 20 minutes (as I stood frozen, trying not to breathe!).

Day seventeen of #ArtAdventCalendar Tonight I’m sharing this painted stone of the Seven Whistlers. Years ago, when people heard the Whistlers flying at night, they thought of it as a bad omen. Sailers would refuse to sail the next day, and miners would avoid the mines.
