I watched Sublo and Tangy Mustard. It wasn't really what I expected. The main thing it does is show that there's a second side to everybody. People have ambitions, personalities, and a life that don't exist to fit inside of a box. The world doesn't stop just because you're not there to see it. 1/3

whenever i do check on twitter at this point, the funniest things i see are these totally antisocial doomer takes about art that seem to go viral over there constantly now. they're like "Neutral Milk Hotel was an op. all millennials and gen z have failed to make worthwhile art and should be gassed."

It's weird that unabashed sincerity has become synonymous with millenials. I mostly remember people my age being pretty irony poisoned, but then again maybe online spaces aren't indicative of everyone back then

It's weird, for as prevalent anime fandom has become in the west I would honestly say that western animation fans have more spiritually in common with otakudom. (This is derogatory)

The cal-arts/bean mouth style doesn't exist. If there are stylistic similarities between shows, it's because of how they are made. Production has to simplify complex designs to help animators work efficiently. Also, off-model doesn't mean anything in a straight storyboard to animator show pipeline.

I had a professor years ago who looked down on anything not in the "classic" Disney style, disliked stuff from the 90s and 2000s that deviated from it slightly, even forbid us from using references because Milt Kahl refused to Anyway, I've been enamored by this reference material from Hercules

The ending to 'Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare' always sticks out. It appeals to my twisted sense of humour but it's such a bizarre and unsettling sequence, especially for one of the last Bugs cartoons. Lava's music really works here and some fun,fluid animation on Taz at the end, too.

Nothing will save the animation industry more (or insert whatever industry more) then better workers rights and protections, and dismantling the idea that companies have the rights of personhood. You can build on a broken foundation, but its not going to last.
