And there it is. Every St. Louis City Alder's good friend, lobbyist David Sweeney, former Chief Clerk of the Board of Alders, finally hired to get #DataCenterSTL across the finish line. The initial moratorium talk by Alders was probably just to help him land the big money client.

A spokesperson for the SLDC says the organization is in the process of negotiating with McKee on a settlement value for the properties he owns within the area covered by the blighting/redev plan that Aldridge helped pass”

Being a planner in sprawling cities like Indianapolis and Kansas City must be fascinating. This (rejected) proposal for a 500 acre data center would have been in Franklin Township, which is largely rural/exurban in nature. (Also keep in mind most pop growth in these "cities" is out in these areas.)

Mayor Spencer's Do It Yourself Disaster Recovery only makes sense if the plan is to encourage people to leave the St. Louis City so developers can gentrify large swaths of land.
