Germany's #SEFE is one of the EU’s largest buyers of Russian #LNG via Russia’s Yamal project, purchasing 2.9 million tonnes per year. These flows ultimately support Russia’s state revenues, including its military budget, and help bankroll war in Ukraine.

Energy prices are rising, giving the Kremlin windfall profits to fund its war. Calls in Europe for “flexibility” on Russian gas risk a return to dependence. This is dangerous. Russian fossil fuels don’t just bring profit, they fuel war. Europe must not go backwards. Phase it out. Enforce sanctions.

In March 2026, EU importers paid Russia EUR 1.3B for fossil fuels. Spain (EUR 355M), Hungary (EUR 297), France (EUR 287M), and Belgium (EUR 219M) led the list. This must stop now. We expect the 20th EU #sanctions package soon with stronger and stricter restrictions.
