ZX Spectrum Robocop is probably the worst game that I like. So many of the ambushes are complete BS, but hey, you’re Robocop so you can take a few hits 🤷 ..even if it stun locks. One thing I like is that they got the dramatic poses right when Robocop aims :) Face matching: worst part of the game

I know very intelligent people who are still into stuff like astrology, and I’ll never be able to figure out that kind of compartmentalization. I know it can be used as a framing device to try and make sense of life’s chaos, but it still doesn’t feel good to me.

Is there a generation gap with debugger use? I like breakpoints where I can look around at the variables and inspect the stack. Some people seem fine though with hot-reloading and the richer print functions that scripting languages give you. Debuggers seem to be given short shrift these days.

I am taking a break from modern computing because it’s driving me crazy. Last image is my favorite joystick adaptor which I never get to use anymore, but the LEDs on the space invader light up to show joystick and button input.

Haven’t even begun on how many resources we waste on design-y things like UI kits that present the user with these form-over-function interfaces that we throw into the trash every couple years.

I feel like I am a native application coder who enjoys trying to find simple solutions to complex problems while all the other parts of my field are in some weird competition to see how they can over complicate everything and add a zillion layers.

Monster Lair is underappreciated. It’s like the original Wonderboy except with more shooting and with a good variety of weapon powerups.

Been messing about with some C64 maths code for a possible version of Delphian. At 1Mhz on my C64U it's a bit slow, but probably playable for what I need once I add interrupt driven controls.

I like Konami GT’s realistically unexciting turbo where all that happens is a light comes on and it makes a “whoosh” noise past a certain speed

Konami GT: the fuel icons go the exact same speed as the traffic. I also forgot this game has a skid effect. I really should get back to writing my racer sometime. It’s always more fun to start new projects :)
