Pileated Woodpecker nesting cavities are of great value to these birds and numerous critters to follow. Often tough to know if the nests are active or not if the birds are not there- but with this nest, I figured out a hint. When in use, the bird's tail rubs on an aspen trunk leaving a mark! #birds
