49,034.64 to put my family on the gold insurance plan per year. 36,771.12 for the silver policy (which is what my company buys me). 36,066.88 for the HIGH DEDUCTIBLE PLAN. Explain to me how this is not crazy.

To add my husband and 3 kids to my company’s health insurance plan (the silver plan they cover for me) costs over 3000 per month.

I am totally open to suggestions and thoughts on that. I will say I’d be surprised if these 3 generate 2600 a year in medical expenses so paying that a month seems pretty crazy.

One time my husband was laid off and that day my daughter broke her elbow. He had insurance so we were able to go to the hospital but the bone doctor was 2 weeks later. He was able to get them to reinstate it because it would have cost over 1000 and this was ~15 yrs ago.

We discussed having half the family go without health insurance and a high deductible plan. I realize this could be financially catastrophic and it tempts fate. But the only option we know of yet is 2600/mo (3 people).
