What sucks is that QT hasnāt done much work on himself despite the time that being successful has given him to potentially further develop as a human being.

Xmas came early in the form of a screening of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang at my local theatre. Hard to believe itās been out 20 years. Blackās writing is dizzying. Feeling a fresh level of awe for the precision ridiculousness he pulls off on the page and screen.

Caught up on Decision to Leave and liked it so much I watched it again except for the very end which seriously gutted me. Parkās direction is stellar. Such lush expert scene work. Canāt wait for No Other Choice. So cool that itās adapted from a Donald Westlake book.

Alien: Earth ep 5. Kind of wish theyād kept what happened on the ship ambiguous but totally get why they had to make things clearer. Morrow continues to be my favorite character. Down with Prodigy! Death to the boy genius!

Highest 2 Lowest is my movie of summer. So beautiful and thrilling and fun and thematically resonant to right now. The ābattleā climax was so inventive it took my breath away. Havenāt felt like that watching a movie in a very long time.

It's Ultra Man day?! Here's my only (so far) drawing of Ultra Man. Drawn on 11" x 17" board, using blue pencil, Copic Multiliner pen, black ink, traditional screen tones, and some white paint.

Finally got around to watching the directors cut of Ridley Scottās Kingdom of Heaven. I remember Esad praising this ages ago. Despite being over 3 hours it flies by. So well paced and beautifully crafted. Incredible design and presentation. Love Edward Nortonās performance as the gentle Leper King.

Rewatched John Frankenheimerās The Train and while the in camera train stunts are spectacular, I was most affected by his use of close-ups and silence for conveying emotion. Heās such a deft director and these moments are genuine and affecting. Whether noble or vile- he cares about his characters.

As a creative always fretting about executing ideas it was such a pleasure to see Heart Eyes and the way its execution straddles being both a rom com and a slasher. What an entertaining meal. Hope they make a sequel.
