Overall the setup is pretty cool. Model discovers she has a demon in her and is tasked with killing other demons, only to realize that the way people use others is the truly demonic thing. Sadly the majority of the episodes take a monster of the week format and little progression happens. 1/2

At the end of this anime and it’s been a bit of a slog tbh. This show did not need to be 26 episodes. The concepts are really cool but it’s held back by not being an ova.

As a writer a teacher, and someone who focuses on literature more so than commercial fiction, I find the writing and dialogue in most video games to be their weakest point. Silksong is no different in that regard.

Hot take: the majority of synthwave/outrun music is held back by the lack of variety in drum patterns. It’s boring hearing the exact same beat in every song. Some artists break from that mold but the exception makes the rule in this case.

I’m just a little guy trying to enjoy tofu

The good news is that I out in a lot of work this summer to line up and pay for several awesome releases on halcyon this fall. The work on them is pretty much done so we’ll at least have some sweet music to jam to during the apocalypse

I’m working overtime going back to school to get what I need to advance in my career but it’s a pay to play system and I’m gonna be under pressure to make things work. I know I’ve got it in me, but my bank account doesn’t and that’s just how it is

So as I start the school year with less pay I am realizing that my schedule is incredibly packed. The mismanaging of the internship program means I I have to work for free after hours to do the legally required safety checks for the kids and my employer is totally fine with shafting me.

This summer had lots of cute and catastrophic moments. Here were my most played albums

Nobody asked but basement show flyers in Jersey have universally lost all semblance of effort. I remember spending hours on my show flyers trying to get the vibe of the bands right and making it look cool. Now the flyers look like they were made with worse tech than I had and that the venue dgaf

Finished utewaremonuro (sp) and that ending was…well it counted as an ending I guess.

Started watching Alien:earth and oof… the writing in the first episode is so soulless. The concept of hybrids(androids supplanted with human consciousness) is being handled so ham-fistedly. The acting is rough save for the always excellent Timothy olyphant.

Hot take: the anime landscape is more generic than it has been at any time since the 1970s. Even the risqué stuff is cookie cutter and the writing of most series is weak, hiding behind “plot twists” that are telegraphed like giant road signs.

Old head anime complaints: Trying to find older anime by avg rating is impossible if you like the older shit. Take animeplanet for example: you go to the horror tag and it’s all recent stuff that is action not horror It’s just whatever shows are popular with younger people.
