Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, "listen mate, life has surface noise."

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

The Alarm frontman Mike Peters dies aged 66

So sad about Mike Peters. Lovely man, family friend. The Alarm one of the first bands I saw. Endured anti-Welsh mockery, and not everyone's cuppa (sincere/heartfelt in an age of irony/artifice) but gave it such ATTACK. Same attack Mike gave his fight with cancer. Wish more people realised that for most art businesses, there's only one person doing all the work. Creating, shipping, admin, promotion, starting feuds with other artists, painting unflattering portraits of them into historical scenes, trying to poison them, it's all one person.
