This is not good. very very very not good. Cutting MSR (Mars Sample Return) is absolutely devastating. Everyone knows we've found something alive up there. We only need to bring it home to confirm in our labs and humanity will have scientific proof that Earth isn't the only home to life.

Jack Black in Minecraft was weird when first announced. Having seen the movie, it could only have been him. I think Jason Mamoa's character was loosely based on Billy Mitchell and it worked!

There's an oak tree near my lab. Today a pair of deer stood underneath, feeding on the brush that grows nearby. I considered how the tree forms a similar shape to a bolt of lightning from the sky and wondered if there were beings who fed at the root of that too, up there somewhere.

I can really feel the presence of animals when they're encountered in the wild. There's something 'extra' happening there. There's some sort of subconscious connection, some... quantum phenomenon of communication that happens. I don't sense this at Zoos or by watching videos. Weird and sad.

@themoonknight.bsky.social glad I took your recommendation to read MacKay's Moon Knight. I'm half way through Vol. 3 and I'm completely hooked. I love the way the relationship between Marc, Jake and Steven is explored in this series. From 'wanting' to like Moon Knight, I've become a big fan.

I'm thinking really hard about whether or not I need to unfriend and unfamily the hyper conservative people in my life. I hate that they are the face of everything that's so depressing lately. I'm struggling to compartmentalize my disdain for their beliefs and my history of good times with them.

This made me giggle inappropriately long, like awkwardly long, during a rather serious meeting today. People looked at me. I had to excuse myself.

I do wonder, would people of the opposite political persuasion consider J. Jonah Jameson a surrogate of liberal talking heads when THEY play the Spiderman 2 game? He seems so obviously Republican to me. But is that my own political bias talking? Hmm.

I've been playing Spiderman 2, trying to keep my mind off the impending destruction of our country, when a certain JJJ keeps chiming in. He's so obviously a satire of the Republican talking heads out there. Spiderman defeats a cult and JJJ spouts gibberish about SM infringing on their rights... Ugh.

150+ JPL employees have lost their homes. 😭 These are people who are paid less than aerospace industry standards because they believe in the mission of expanding human understanding of the Universe. The financial hardships that await them are hard to fathom.

The Eaton fire is one block away from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and remains at zero percent containment. Among so many devastating losses, homes, businesses and infrastructure, the United States is facing the destruction of this historic site. 5500 jobs are tied to that lab.

It's telling to me that no media outlets are mentioning how close the Eaton fire is to the historic Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. THE lab responsible for the Mars Rovers, dozens of historically significant deep space missions, and out fundamental understanding of the Universe.

I love that NASA is trending. It can do everything SpaceX can do, and do it in the first try, ON OTHER PLANETS! There is simply no comparison.

I'm really glad so many are mind blown by Beyoncé and enjoying the music and performances but I sincerely don't understand the pull. Music written by a committee and designed with marketing and business in mind just doesn't do it for me. It feels like the McDonalds of music.

Sonic 3 review: The story is rushed. The pacing is horrible. They amped up the cultural references to an annoying degree. The plot had more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese. I loved it anyway. 🤷
