J has a golf lesson this evening and I am torn. On the one hand, I’ll be stoked if he finds an exercise thing he likes coz that furthers my plan to keep him around forever. On the other hand, it is golf and I must mock!

Can I have some good thoughts for C, who is approaching the end of his sublet and hasn’t yet found a new flat - he’s waiting on a decision from someone and has more viewings lined up, but the best case scenario is still going to be down to the wire.

This election I want a political party that doesn’t centre jobs/work as the main route to a better life. I want a world where people can still have a rich & meaningful life when they are disabled or ill or engaged in caring, where artists have the means to create things that aren’t just for profit…

Room must have been a bit hot last night coz we both had weird dreams. Mine involved a long walk around Nelson and also being angry at my partner (though I don’t recall why) so I am starting the day kinda exhausted.

Dentist has a new hygienist who is much less brutal than the last one. Also she was full of praise for my dental hygiene and we were done so quickly she game me a discount. I don’t have to go back for nine whole months! Though I did accidentally make the appointment for my birthday 🤦‍♀️

I have a dental hygienist appointment this afternoon. This is probably going to be less painful than keeping on wrestling with Word, which is being weird and crashy today.

C has gone to a show at the venue where his folding chair collapsed last time. They saw him walk in the door and immediately produced a wooden chair for him. Obviously not taking any chances.

Couldn’t wind down enough to sleep until very late last night and then forgot my amitriptyline so I am running on less than five hours sleep. Would plan an afternoon nap but prime napping time is also when we usually visit Mum.

Wolfbrook Arena however is a truly shit venue. I could maybe forgive the torture seats and swaying stands if the acoustics were any good, but it’s just a big echoey concrete box.

Lorde was like nothing else! So much energy and stage wizardry and performing in her undercrackers and…yeah… wow…

Today’s discourse has revealed that I have more tolerance for an uncomfortable read than a lot of my peers and I am now concerned about what that says about me psychologically.

Slept until after 9am this morning and thus hit my eight hour sleep goal (a rare occurrence though amitriptyline has me regularly over seven hours). Goal of the day is to take it easy enough that I have good energy to enjoy Lorde tonight.

Always surprised how 20 minutes of lying in a narrow chair with your mouth open is actually quite tiring.

Heading off to the dentist coz the retainer wire behind my teeth did something weird a couple of weeks ago and it’s felt a bit odd ever since. Could really just do without having yet another body part trying to pull high maintenance bullshit.

F has sold the tuba he bought last year and bought a bass flugelhorn (and persuaded the tuba purchaser to transport the flugelhorn up from Chch). This is so much the sort of thing J’s Dad would do and I’m finding it fairly hilarious.

Is there some way to get a “needs assessment” sort of thing but not for government funded disability supports? Like I know there are a bunch of aids/modifications/services etc that would make my life a lot easier, but I need some help to untangle what I really need and where to get it.

I thought I’d finally purged Facebook of weight loss advertising, but I just got served an ad for discount weight loss surgery. That seems hella dodgy.

Finished a project that’s been sitting 95% done for months - a montage of miniature holiday snapshots.

Something I do not understand is why someone, who has presumably paid quite a lot of money to be there, will stand up to have a natter with their mates, during the headline act, right in someone else’s line of sight.

I expect @apocalypseelf.bsky.social will be disappointed to learn Iggy kept his (very low slung) pants on - though at an all ages show that was likely for the best.

Poor C went to see a gig and his seat collapsed under him! Nasty cut on his finger but not otherwise too bad from the sounds of things, but he came over a bit wobbly and had to call a flatmate to escort him home.

The drive here took quite a bit longer than the map indicated (do they assume everyone speeds the whole way?) but gosh it’s a gorgeous trip once you get past Timaru! And now we’re in our very nice rental with bellies full of bao and kimchi fries via uber eats. And tomorrow is a planned sloth day

About to drive to Wānaka for rock and roll purposes. First roadie in years (and very first in an electric car). As is always the way we’re leaving a couple of hours later than planned, but we’re not on any real timetable so it’s all good.

Most of why we send that cats to the cattery rather than getting someone to come in to feed them is that they’re indoor cats and if they got out I’m not sure someone they don’t know well could get them back. However a big bonus is we don’t need to do nearly as much pre-trip tidying.

Mel is as both my kids’ favourite teacher at primary school, and my very valued colleague. Right now she’s going through just about the worst things I can imagine - losing her larynx and livelihood in one go. She’s writing about it with wit and eloquence and an awful lot of bravery.

I started this months ago, but put it aside for Christmas crafting. Then I wasn’t well enough to finish the Christmas crafts before Christmas, so it feels like forever since I got up the end of a project. It’s a fair step up in complexity from anything else I’ve embroidered so I’m mostly pleased
