With the mercury shooting skywards this weekend here in Oklahoma, I kinda wish I had a place like Wilde Rose down the street. And some tasty Kellerbier to go with it.

Nice dinner a few nights back with grilled shrimp in a coconut sauce with garlic and Aleppo pepper, purple grits from Anson Mills, and a carrot salad with herbs from our garden. Dessert: Sticky rice with coconut milk and peaches. And the beer: a stellar 2023 Abrikoos from De Cam in Flanders.

A "counter-factual": What would the history of beer (or the history of anything, for that matter) look like without myths and legends? I ask this as a historian, but also one who is decidedly *not* a positivist historian. (The myths and legends we tell ourselves can be revealing for historians.)
