The bill that just passed the House costs $5 trillion, more than $4 trillion of which are tax cuts. It’s paid for with $1.7 trillion of cuts to healthcare, education, and social welfare, plus $3.3 trillion of borrowing. Budgets are expressions of values.

“We don’t want to take away from one kid to give to another.” - Rep. Dean Arp (R), as he recommends voting down an amendment to the budget which would transfer funds from the private school voucher fund to give to kids in rural counties to travel on field trips to Raleigh. The hypocrisy is real. 🤯

Rural kids should be able to learn, earn, and live right here…in our rural communities. That means good public schools and roads with shoulders and fast internet and healthcare access. Not one or the other. I’ve been fighting for rural communities for years. Trump Republicans won’t stop me.
