Recently in consultation meetings I've met children who have been racially abused by other children. This has retraumatised their parents and is also retraumatising for me. Racism is a safeguarding issue as outlined in KCSIE. It should be treated as such.

Disappointed in the new occupants at the DfE quite generally tbh and I'm not afraid to say it. Too much flattery goes on in the sector where people want to have influence and I don't think it's healthy for education. #EduSky

Just been reading the DfE's new writing framework and it seems to push even more for formalising the Reception year. Every time I speak to teachers on the ground they stress the need for active, playful approaches to learning in the early years and this is not that. #EduSky

Extremely devastating news for transgender people in the United Kingdom. So much of what we face in the United States has shared roots in that country, and this Supreme Court decision there will make people far less free. Crackdowns on trans people are international, not limited to borders.

Last night, I was asked by my child to send a text message to their best friend's mum, explaining that they are trans. The reply I received brought me to tears. Love and compassion is what matters to trans kids and their families. Trust that we know what is best for our kids.

What were psychologists doing during the ESN scandal? The same thing we are doing now, whilst disability benefits are cut by our more democratic party, whilst children struggle to attend zero tolerance schools, whilst there is a 2 child benefit cap. Psychology is, was, and will always be political

I watched Adolescence over the weekend and still have it on my mind. Elianne Andam, Carol, Louise, and Hannah Hunt were in my thoughts in light of their killers being sentenced this week. We must do better to protect women & girls, and to raise emotionally healthier boys and men.

I've been trained in evidence based parenting programmes and understand the neuroscience, but still feel that nothing could have prepared me for the reality of raising teenagers. Anyway I hope this makes someone out there feel better!
