Tonight’s sci-fi dive: “Conquest of Space” (1955). Classic perilous mission to Mars flick with that TECHNICOLOR aura that is pure eye candy.

Tonight’s fright: “I Married A Monster From Outer Space” (1958). Think “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, but an oh so low b-level. Enjoyed it thoroughly and the monster design was pretty snazzy.

#TopShelfFriday Love this one shot ‘66 monster mag due to it featuring my favorite monster sci-fi flick, THEM (1954). The over the top cover art also deserves a +1. Any monster kids here ever land one of the 6 ft. Frankie’s on the back cover? Would have loved one.

Happy #NCBD ! Always love when IDW goes with a photo cover featuring one of the TOS crew members, so this one was a must featuring a Lt. Uhurah. Also enjoying RED*BOOK. This is a follow up series to BLUE*BOOK, but focuses on accounts of UFO encounters in Russia and China.

Only eighteen issues from 1952 to 1954 in this run of Here’s Howie. The first four were a response to the success of Archie. When that didn’t make a dent, they moved Howie into the army. Would love to complete this series, but I’m not too hopeful with sixteen to go. Can be pricey in any condition.

🍊Ninth installment of my all time favorite show: “The Corbomite Maneuver”. 🖖No doubt that Balok was the highlight for me as a kid. I’d seen his image in the credits many times before I actually saw the episode. Blew me away. Also, I’m guessing there was an uptick in my consumption of Tang.😉

Eighth Star Trek installment: “Miri”. Ooof. 🖖Even as a kid I found this tough to watch. The special effects were decent, but I just wanted to get to the end credits. I’m guessing this will be the last time I try to watch it. As I was discussing in my earlier post, how did this one ever get made?

🔷🟩 Installment 7 of my Star Trek rewatch: What Are Little Girls Made Of? 🖖My first encounter with the concept of an android. When reenacting with my MEGOS, I had to use my Johnny West figures so that I could emulate the character of Ruk’s size. Ted Cassidy crushed this role.

“The Call of the Wild” remains a favorite of mine, so I was hopeful reading this one. The first two thirds or so of the book did not disappoint, especially due to London’s perfectly placed descriptors. However, the last third-ish of the story stumbled in its landing. Still worth the read.

Let’s help Mark wrap this one up folks. Check those boxes that are under tables at shows and shops. This one is definitely got the vibe of a “dig for”. And knowing Mark, he’ll take anything from a 0.5 grade up.😂

🏴‍☠️Round six of my Star Trek rewatch: “Mudds Women”. 🖖As a kid, this one introduced me to that scoundrel Harry Mudd, though I may have seen his second appearance prior to this one, as I watched them probably in their first rerun effort. Can’t wait to revisit his appearance in the animated series.

🐕 Fifth episode of my Star Trek rewatch: “The Enemy Within”. 🖖The planet scene with Lt. Sulu and the landing party definitely was locked in my memory. Many a time my MEGOS were stranded on an ice planet with no hope in sight. Only bummer was that a Sulu figure was not available when I was a kid.

Mail call and candidate for #TopShelfFriday: Never owned this early of an Atlas, and am THRILLED to have a copy. Lower grade, but for me, that works perfectly so I can stay in my budget lane that gets pushed to the limit more months than not. I wouldn’t even sniff this one in mid to high grade.
