If you are younger than Roe v Wade, a lot of this happened before you were born. But proximity to the time matters. Schools were desegregated but the attitudes took MUCH longer to change on a large scale. My childhood was full of racism? But you want me to say it's over because it's not lynching.

I am reminded that i was born one year after some places (virginia, south carolina are examples) FINALLY ended school segregation. Some Va schools (like Crestwood) were still segregated in 1971. Gen X is predominately still alive and some went to both segregated and integrated schools.
