I did a proof of concept of the fur transition on the Nekomancer and... I think it works pretty good! There's definitely some tinkering to do, but I think this is a good start.

I think the Nekomancer is juuuust about ready to leave blender. But I may have to come back and tinker with her several times depending on how the effects end up working

The key to the mesh transformation will be multiple stacking shapekeys that to create that wonderful kind of... non-uniform spreading and bulging of a proper lycanthrope transformation As for the texture transition... well, I'll post more about that when I get her out of Blender.
