🪪 It is baffling that the UK doesn't already have ID cards... My Malaysian MyKad is everything from a driver's licence to an e-wallet and is even used by banks in preference to their own cards. Has biometric data, so it's as secure as your face and fingerprints. A total no-brainer.

📉 Reminder that the CBI survey is an unweighted balance of opinion, so it doesn't measure actual sales... By contrast, the BRC's pretty reliable monitor has retail sales GROWING in each of the last 12 months (except last November due to the phasing of Black Friday) - hardly a "slump"!
