We will know our governments are serious about tackling the climate crisis when it’s cheaper to take the train from northern UK to the south of France than it is to fly. And not 2-3 times the price

Today i passed an older gent (60s?) who’d done a similar commute. We had a chat and his parting words were “e-bikes make it so easy - and it makes you feel so good!”

My commute to work (one route): 12 miles and 500m of climbing. 45mins and no sweat on an ebike 10 minutes longer than driving; 10 minutes quicker than the bus

It was my 2024 aim to get to work by bike (normal or “e”) 40% of the time. Made it. 79 days at 28 miles round trip = 2,200 miles by bike (vs 111 days by car). It was mostly fun… Just imagine what the Isle of Mancould do with an actual Active Travel program and some infrastructure….
