This is me pitching to DC my story about Fire fighting against immoral and unjust American immigration practices called Fire vs. ICE.

Posted late last night because I was thinking about this. Just a little short exercise in Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons' mirror technique from Watchmen in the tone of Busiek's Astro City. I love sentimental superhero stories, and I really hope to write a full-length one day.

The “Dating Me is Like…” prompt on Hinge perplexes me because I only know how to be a self-deprecating nerd. “Dating me is like seeing the Millennium Falcon: I may not look like much, but I’ve got it where it counts.”

In 1997, my dad took me to see the Special Editions as they were released in theaters. It felt like a massive, monumental thing at the time. I was 9 years old, and it sparked a lifelong obsession. I was already into storytelling, but Star Wars made me want to study storytelling.

It’s baffling to me the number of grown people who believe in their hearts that writers of comics sometimes dislike a character so much that they attempt to deliberately harm the public’s perception of that character—instead of accepting that someone has an interpretation they just don’t like.

Catch me deadnaming the FUCK out of the Department of War.

Hey, friends (and non-friends, but preferably not enemies). What’s your favorite cryptid? Maybe this is for comics writing purposes.

My take on the "Why is Batman in the JLA??" question has always been: the JLA need people without powers to remind them what humanity is like. How can gods, aliens, time travelers, etc. make decisions for regular human mortals? They need human representation to keep them grounded.

There's a universe in which Jack and Alan collaborated on something, and that universe doesn't have any of the problems that we currently face.

One of my favorite bits of V For Vendetta that was left out of the film is the romantic love that Adam Susan (the fascist leader of the Norsefire Party) feels for Fate, the supercomputer that controls the media because it perfectly satirizes how fascists need the media to spread their agenda.

I’m still so proud of that script. I’m glad it’s resonated with so many people. I was especially proud of Superman roasting Batman for not liking the suburbs.

When I wrote the Cult reference, I thought for sure someone at DC would object to it. They wouldn't let me use Constantine because he was too adult, but Batman getting tortured in the sewers was a-okay. I had a ton of fun writing that script. I'm glad people are still digging it.

It might sound crazy at first, but I’d argue that Superman (2025) occupies a very similar pop culture space as Barbie (2023), and I mean that so incredibly complimentary.

As a comic fan who also loves Final Fantasy, I think often about the canceled FF comic that was to be written by Kurt Busiek and published by Disney (with covers by Mike Mignola).

I caught up on Absolute Green Lantern today, and I love the horror take on GL so much. It's atmospheric and paranoid as hell, like a really great Twilight Zone episode but with unspeakable terror (and also super powers).

I should've posted this yesterday, but I didn't think about it until now, so, y'know.

Heard an interviewer at Heroes Con say he works for one of my most hated Right Wing rag geek sites, and my initial reaction was to fart something vile.

My next comic project is going to be a compilation of my poems, each with art by a different collaborator. It's an idea I've had for a long time, and it finally feels like time to make it happen. I'm really excited to see what each artist does with the selections they've made. Hell yeah.

I recently reread Hound from @madcavestudios.com and I just cannot say enough about it. It's a tightly-paced war story about the horrors of conflict on the people who are forced into it by powers they can't understand, and man--it just hits.

Since the school year is over, I've not only been focused on writing comics. I've also been catching up on my reading. There are so many sick books out right now, and I'm just gonna gush for a while:
