Here’s an interesting finding about the process of sentence inflation experienced in E&W over the last couple of decades: for some offence groups, this process appears to be reflecting nothing more than attrition in the criminal justice system - i.e., only the most serious crimes make it to court.

Our paper on trust and trusworthiness is out, where we test a model of competence, benevolence, and integrity in 5 countries. We find these are generally consistent across people and countries, with benevolence being most important in determining trust judgements.

Applying procedural justice principles (being polite, explaining reasons for actions, etc.) during traffic stops (🇺🇸) led people stopped to have more positive views of police and be more willing to cooperate. Rudeness had the opposite effect. Paper:
