It's funny, I was talking with someone about these thoughts this morning, and they said something that basically boiled down to "If you're having fun, isn't that the good outcome you were hoping for by being online less anyway?" And... yeah. I guess in my intense focus on reducing my time online...

I just saw the amount of time I've been using my PC since I started playing FFXIV again. Eesh. I like the game, I really do. I'm having a lot of fun with it, but... I spent so much of 2025 trying to reduce my time sitting at my PC/generally online, and I was better for it.

A few days ago I hit what apparently was a big FFXIV meme moment with "Little Sun", now I'm approaching one of the few FFXIV memes that I was aware of prior to playing the game. 🎵 LA-HEE 🎵

I didn't have to wait as long as I expected to be proven correct. Heck yeah. 😄 "Reincarnated in Another World: This Time I'm the Warrior of Darkness??"

Just saying this here as a prediction for myself: The thinning aether and the 'call' are the effects of the scions literally being summoned to another world. I barely know anything about it, but my prediction is that FFXIV Shadowbringers is essentially an isekai (probably to the First?) story.

I restarted after realising this and successfully wrote a story that wasn't just me venting. 🤣🤣

Hoo-boy. You know your mind is in a certain headspace when you sit down to write some light and lewd personal fluff, and one and a half pages later you realise all you've done is describe the awful landscape of social media the story's protagonist is seeking a relaxing escape from. 😅

The FFXIV Stormblood x Hamilton crossover event continues. I missed taking a screenshot of a character saying "Raise a glass to freedom!" but I caught this one in 4k lmao.

I know it's a plotline about a revolution but did FFXIV Stormblood really have to have quests called The Room Where It Happens and The World Turned Upside Down? 🤣🤣

Bardam's Mettle, that's... a hell of a second boss, lmao. Not sure if I liked it, since I was only able to succeed at it after looking up a walkthrough and going "oh, that's how you do it? I never would have been able to figure that out, lmao" but certainly a fun twist on the FFXIV boss fight.

Nothing exemplifies the state of "online discourse" in the modern age better than an example I saw today with many people rushing to take sides on an issue regarding a fictional video game character, with each and every one of them getting her name wrong because they were all just reactionarily...

10am on my first full work day of the year, already 2700 words done and 1/2 short stories for today complete! Aww yis!

Final Fantasy 14 has a habit of surprising me with its genuinely heartfelt, impactful story beats. Then you have sidequests where you help a mercantile catfish figure out his business model, and eventually settle on him becoming a wartime arms dealer. Yay? 😅😅😅

I don't write all that much totally SFW stuff these days, but in 2024 I wrote a few very fun and wholesome Ducktales 2017 stories. Reading them again now... gosh, I love that show, and I hope I can coax myself into writing more stories set in that world, even if barely anyone else reads 'em. XD

One of my last reads of the year turned out to be one of my least favourite; my first DNF, I called it quits after around 150/500 pages. It just wasn't my vibe at all, despite the premise seeming entertaining. But heck, to find that the case once out of 135+ books? I'm still batting great odds. 🥰

I always thought I wasn't a rom-com enjoyer, but turns out it was more that I just bought into the idea that a rom-com was nothing more than the Hollywood mess of miscommunication, genuine abuses of trust and privacy, and the protagonists being awful to each other until 5 minutes from the end.

Time to retire my current Dwarf Fortress and start a new one with this same civ! Siegestrike ended up a resounding success. I managed to figure out some good anti-siege strats and severely weakened the goblin civ attacking me with my own raids on them. <3

Some of the dwarves in my current Dwarf Fortress game are getting pretty beefy in terms of their military prowess. Among them is a dwarf who happens to be the eldest child of the reigning monarch, but who spends his time on much more active pursuits (slaying invaders, mostly). <3

A while back I listened to a podcast that amongst other things looked into fringe religious groups. One of them had a living god-figure as the head of the religion. His name was Harold. Harold appointed his successor as religious leader this year. Now the god-figure is a man named Doug.

Reading a book is like anti social media. - Browse social media idly in my free time, see stressful and upsetting shit I have no control over and no power to stop, get anxious. - Read a book I like in my free time, think about awesome characters doing neat stuff and feel more chill. 🥰

I'm onto volume 2 of the Delicious in Dungeon manga, and Cutest Dungeon Explorer has just been introduced. (whether lizard kobolds or dog kobolds, all kobolds are best in dungeons). <3

Of the 26 Xxxmas themed short stories I wrote this month, more than 4/5ths ended up double the base length I intended (over 4k words each as opposed to around 2k). What this tells me is that I really need to open for more long commissions in 2026, since apparently I have ALL the words inside me. 😅

I appear to have started to have recurring dreams. In the last two weeks I've had multiple dreams that are side-plots of the current books I'm reading, and which have all featured the same outdoor street food market that seems to be a mash-up of one I've visited in London and a street in Aberdeen.
