Conversion "therapy" is also still not banned in Austria, although there have been resolutions passed by parliament since 2019 and a law was proposed last year. #IDECT is a necessary reminder to ban conversion practices in 2026!

A lot of academics (myself included) are activists. Studying something horrible (you know, like climate change or gender inequality) and wanting to make it less horrible doesn’t mean your work is compromised — it just means you give a shit. Empathy is a key scholarly skill. IMHO.

indoorco2map.com uses a citizen data approach: everyone with a supported CO2-monitor can measure CO₂ in publicly accessible indoor spaces and share it openly. Together, these data points make indoor air quality (IAQ) visible and hopefully eventually contribute to improving it.

Elevated indoor CO₂ levels correlate with reduced concentration, decision-making, and well-being and maybe most importantly with higher infection risk from airborne respiratory particles.

First of all why is it important to measure CO₂-Values in indoor spaces? It is because we spend ~90% of our lives indoors, breathing air that’s often poorly ventilated. The higher the CO₂-Concentation, the more air has been “used” already and been in lungs of others just recently.

Here's a really easy New Year's Resolution: If you're sick with something contagious, you will stay home if your circumstances allow. If you can't stay home, you will mask around others until there is no possibility you are contagious. By making these choices, you will literally save lives.
