My theme for 2025 is SPACE. I plan to clear the clutter from my life (including unnecessary things, people, drama, & work) to create space for all that fulfills me. Space for rest & healing. Space for creativity & imagination. Space for family, friends, and community. Space for love. Space for ME!

"In Slavery's Wake," the new exhibition at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, is beautiful. While it was hard seeing the pervasive harms of slavery, I was deeply moved by the global stories of Black freedom and resistance & feel more connected to the Diaspora.

I embrace all the energy of this post. As an academic, writing is one of my tools for resistance. Moving out of professional leadership has given me more time, space, and emotional capacity for writing. And I have a lot to say!

I’m still ruminating about a meeting I had yesterday… Being a Black woman is being vilified for your ideas, but later hearing the same white women parrot your ideas back to you (without any attribution, of course) and praising each other for their ingenuity. 🙄
