In its carbon budget, the Govt gave its clearest commitment yet to banning the use of horticultural peat. The hort industry uses 760,000 cubic metres of peat a year so a 2031 timeframe really isn't good enough. Please sign the petition now:

We use peat bunds to slow the flow of water across the surface of the bog and hold peat sediment back on the moor. Once that's happening, vegetation can establish. Can you spot the bund?

We went back to a site that was restored about 2 years ago. It is very nice to see nice Sphagnum-rich pools have formed next to the peat dams. Sphagnum plugs are also doing great (now more than 200 times their initial size). Happy times π
