I think my issue with learning coding is that documentation feels like a dictionary and tutorial videos feel like a phrasebook when what I really need is the grammar and syntax (i.e, how to use the words)

the most interesting example of game-ification is the over the hedge video game. because while it was based on the movie, the movie was based on the newspaper comic. so it's essentially another layer of detached abstraction from the original source material.

toby's doing the gamedev equivalent of a music artist previewing stuff on an instagram livestream but not releasing the songs so all you have is a low quality 30 second snippet
