Four Thoughts on Sheffield Wednesday (p)1-1 #LUFC Not much joy to be found. Can't blame Farke entirely, but can't ignore his track record either. The recruitment team best be crossing their fingers, and hopefully our goalkeepers can get theirs in some sort of order.

Arsenal was on Farke. I think last night was sheer arrogance from the players just thinking they’d stroll it. Then they panicked once we went behind. I also think it’s highlighting the failures in recruitment so far. Not sure Okafor is the key to anything & DCL has missed loads of those in the past.

That being said, having watched a few bits back, I'm struggling to blame Farke much for this. Yes, 9 changes was always going to affect things, and we should have blown SW away easily, but it's hard to look past the players who simply didn't put the ball in the net. We had more than enough chances.

Perhaps not as embarrassing as Crawley bringing on a Z-list celebrity, but this feels like the most needless Cup failure in a long while. There's no reason, other than incompetence, that we've conspired to lose this. #LUFC

An expected loss, of course, but a warning about the need for pragmatism in both team selection & game management. You can change a winning XI if they don't fit the next opposition. You don't have to lose by 5 goals just because a team is objectively better. Hopefully a learning experience. #lufc
