A big part of what attracted me to Wendell was its history & character. My house was built in 1941. The day I toured it, I ate lunch a few blocks away in downtown Wendell. I was struck that there were no chains occupying any of the historic buildings – just local businesses. 🧵

A byproduct of Wendell's growth is more schools. I want to work with the county to make those multiuse facilities including affordable housing and other amenities right on school property so some teachers and students can walk right to school.

Across party lines, Americans in some of the reddest states want utilities and politicians to stop getting in the way of moving energy across our grid so we can lower energy costs, per a Conservative Energy Network poll by the GOP firm Cygnal.

The carbon and methane we put in the atmosphere is taking a growing chunk out of our wallets. The cost of maintaining insurance is making home ownership more expensive and more risky in more and more unexpected places. It's not just Western NC post-Helene but even the Piedmont.

Yet another decision that does the opposite of making America great. Many people will die because of it, and it will cost way more money than short-term boosts to next quarter's shareholder reports. Ultimately this is about the planet we all share and the air we all breathe.

The Trump Administration literally set $10 million of contraceptives on fire that our tax dollars paid for. They had offers to buy them, which would have meant we were paid back and abortions were prevented. This makes no sense for anyone.
