in contrast if you step on a bus in an area where only impoverished people use the bus there are only a handful of types of advertisements, you can immediately tell what they are about, but what they are about are drug addiction treatments and pregnancy crises.

i actually think this should be seen as a good sign. an urban economy is always very specialised, and the fact that all sorts of niche companies are advertising on the subway tells us that all kinds of New Yorkers are using it.
