I have the first edition of this book. It had me checking old cat for extra tails. Thankfully, she died with only one tail. Current cat on the other hand.. I have my suspicions. If you don’t own a copy, you should definitely order one. Everyone needs to educate themselves about magic cats.

I use a 1922 Liberty silver dollar to trace the moon. She looks especially judgy today.

So much to sew back together. So far the underarms of both sleeves and part of the collar. Thing is, thread rots. If seams pop open from thread giving out, it’s the best case scenario. Thread stronger than the fabric saws right through the fabric rendering it unrepairable.

Sewing the collar back into my very favourite, very trashed threadbare kimono. Doing the exact thing I refuse to do for clients. I think this is the first instance of me sewing hearts over holes. A habit I have that people think is a metaphor, but is, in fact, quite literal.

Too exhausted to post a link to the atrocity that took me the entire day to hem. I had to raise a ruffle 4”, which sucks ten ways to Sunday. The fabric felt like plastic paper, and it was trimmed with chonky rhinestone flowers with pearl centres that kept catching on the crappy fabric.

Yes, but.. My half-white/half-asian self born in HI, lived in PDX my entire life with my very American accent has been having to convince people that I am, in fact, American since I was a small child. So it shouldn’t matter/doesn’t matter except that it does. People still ask me where I’m from.

Leather needles are extra-wicked; it’s like a tiny knife with the tip sharpened flat with blade-like edges. Let’s see if I can do this project without stabbing myself too many times.
