Since the spring of 2023, I have been creating a non-violent art museum in Doom. My goal was to find art that engaged with the themes that informed Doom's creation, while also exploring the possibilities of virtual museum spaces. Please enjoy this museum. Download link below

No matter what era you grew up in or what kind you love, video games are awesome! But, obviously, the stuff I love is the besterist. Fainites! No comebacks.

Cheesed Antumbra's Sword in Crimson Desert earlier. Whoever decided to create a boss fight that requires repeatedly timing L3+R3 stick clicks needs a talking to. Decided to go back and do it properly after finding out that it's one of the few bosses that doesn't have multiple health bars.

the more i saw myself as a pet that i need to take care of, the better i was able to care for myself. Oh no, my habitat is stressing me out, what can i change for better enrichment? it’s weird but it works for me.

If people don't want PlayStation's digital-only future, perhaps it's finally time for them to vote with their wallets. And I don't mean making an exception for GTA VI or saying they won't buy a PS6, then immediately caving when it comes out.

I'd probably be a lot more irritated by the Sony news if it hadn't taken me at least five years to buy a PS5 in the first place. Can't say I'm champing at the bit for the successor. Hardly surprising though. Sony broke my confidence with the PSVR1 anyway.

The biggest obstacle to me listing on eBay is how slow the web interface is. You have to wait for a page to fully load before you can interact with filters, etc. What sort of core vitals are they measuring over there, if at all? So much friction in the experience from a clearly complacent company.

New post! This week I’m investigating the first entry in one of the most significant series of Japanese detective games, Saburo Jinguji (aka Jake Hunter). We’re looking into absurdist crimes, corpses as symbols, and the profound abstractions that are maps. Wowee!! Give it a read!

Really want to support this series but the lack of PC versions is a bit frustrating. You'd think that the platform with a lifespan now running into decades would be the best choice in the interests of preservation.

Feels a bit wild to me that the Nintendo 64 is 30 years old now. Probably my favorite console, and it's given me some of my best video game memories. So many beautiful dreamy feeling games.

I hope that Burnham, comfortably on his way to being PM without a challenge, has a sensible chuckle at Streeting's sudden show of "support" and deservedly relegates him to the back benches. Such a sad and transparent attempt to pander for a cabinet position.

Something that tickled me yesterday was finding a cart of The Tower of Druaga on Famicom and realising that the label's background was an off-screen close-up of the game running on a CRT. Quite cute. I imagined someone sitting in a dark room with a 35mm camera, getting the shutter speed just right.

Overheard a rep from a publisher rubbishing emulation as "never good" at the gaming market yesterday, dismissing emulation devices as "executive toys" that people didn't play games on. Also at the same market: many games priced at £100+. Highest I saw was Pocky & Rocky & Becky (GBA) for £1200.

Should probably get over my fears and learn how to drive. Not wild about the expense and hassle of running a car but the freedom would be welcome, plus it'd be really handy if I end up leaving London eventually.

Banning social media for under-16s being a good idea is underlined by Instagram informing me that posts calling for a Muslim girl with ADHD to be hanged "do not go against our Community Guidelines on hate speech". These platforms cannot be trusted to regulate themselves.

SimCity on the SNES somehow was an excellent conversion of the computer original, but it also changed and improved the formula in a number of ways that would end up sticking in the series. And, of course, Dr. Wright is there.
