Seems like it basically works, at least for boxy maps. There are some moments I don't love in the geometric debug version that disappear quickly with a more organic skin on it. Slopes will be very challenging in this setup; there's a reason games like FFTA don't have (m)any

Just as flat design was a complete repudiation of the depth cues skeuomorphism provided, liquid glass is a repudiation of others, like opacity. Both were overcorrections which forgets these properties are tools to use in moderation.

I saw one of the Never's End articles describe it as pixel art characters on 3D backgrounds, but everything is actually fully 3D modeled and pixel perfect. It has taken years and years to make it this clean.
