I wrote a letter to the editor @thespec1846.bsky.social about the AMO report that homelessness has risen 8% in 1 year & 50% since 2021, Doug Ford’s “solution” to which is “get a job”, and then his Government pausing requirements for affordable housing on transit lines that get people to jobs. 🤦‍♀️

The favourite days of my week are the ones where I get to work out of my office in downtown Hamilton! The walk to/from is such a reset.

Thoughts while running: as our population ages hospitals/palliative services should consider adding co-working spaces for the families of patients who need to juggle work. Many would pay a fee to be able to work and be at hospital for key appointments and updates on their loved ones.

This was an inspiring story. I started running as a way to get to know Burlington when I moved there without a car. When I traveled for work I always packed my runners to see more of a place. Running is an amazing way to explore cities! Running for a good cause is even better!

Our local Little Free Library is in a Park. Many neighbours have stewarded this library over the years. The latest etched “Little Library” into new glass, installed a latch and an overhang, and gave it a fresh coat of paint. Love that it’s truly a community space! Thank you neighbours! #HamOnt

Watching the French Liberal leadership debate. Karina Gould is impressing me. On a question about supporting Canadians with the cost of living crisis, she is the only one who tabled a basic income as a possible solution.

I had a great Friday night. I went to the Hamilton Centre returning office to vote and then walked across the street to Theatre Aquarius to see Casey and Diana. It was amazing! Must see! I basically went back to grade 10 to take civics and history but it was a fulfilling Friday night!

In uni I was a tour guide for school groups to Ottawa and we would tell the kids that they could request the flag from the Peace Tower. I requested one and got it 18 years later. I am so proud of the opportunity I had to share my love of Canada and love that this flag will always remind me. #flagday

Very much worth a watch if you have not yet seen the PM’s brief and moving speech to Americans and Canadians. “From the beaches of Normandy …to the streets of Kandahar, we have fought and died alongside you during your darkest hours. We're always there, standing with you."

It takes curiosity to learn. It takes courage to unlearn. Learning requires the humility to admit what you don't know today. Unlearning requires the integrity to admit that you were wrong yesterday. Learning is how you evolve. Unlearning is how you keep up as the world evolves.
