Beatrice Harraden wasn’t just a best-selling author—she was deeply involved in the fight for women’s suffrage. A member of both the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) and the Women’s Freedom League (WFL). On February 6 1918, women over 30 got the vote in the UK.

Kate O’Brien, 1897-194, was a novelist and playwright. She was born in Limerick, Ireland, the sixth of nine children. After University College, Dublin she became a writer of plays and novels. She won a number of literary prizes and her works achieved great critical acclaim.
