While this Labour government has had plenty of disappointing moments, this really is huge. Campaigners and experts have always told me this is the quickest and most effective way to immediately reduce child poverty. It took too long to get here but this is big.

VICTORY! Government to open up the Land Registry - bringing to an end a thousand years of secrecy shrouding who owns England. Iāve been campaigning for this for ten years: the new Land Use Framework, published later today, makes it government policy. 1/

The Iran war should be a lesson for Keir Starmer's Government. If you take a clear line on an issue where the public agree with you then it's your opponents who end up having to back down, not you

Strange. You'd think that the British people would be persuaded by such compelling arguments as 'we don't have a plan for regime change but a friend of a friend does' or 'Keir Starmer smells!'

Have been a bit frustrated by some of the conversation about Labour's voter coalition. I've written about who the "Hero Voters" actually were, how we won them, and what we need to do to earn their support next time.

Who actually were the Hero Voters?
Labour won in 2024 because of economically insecure voters, not social conservatism.

Ask the public what services they want to cut, or what services they're happy to be rubbish, and you get a very different set of answers. They'll say cut foreign aid, ofc, but that's all but gone already. What next?

Excellent news with very welcome u-turn by government in House of Commons this evening, pledging to restore the Electoral Commission's independence. Democracy is strengthened by having an independent regulator. (Labour had previously omitted from its legislative plans acting on this.)

I particularly resent rags like Daily Mail gleefully reporting Trumpās bullying of Starmer. Itās disloyal and hypocritical - theyād be screaming from rooftops if U.K. meekly followed European diktats, yet would have us unquestioningly kowtow to Trump. Starmerās task is incredibly difficult.

I may have my frustrations and disappointments about Starmer as a domestic politician, but internationally, I think heās serious, responsible and trying to do his best for U.K. in unbelievably complex intāl environment, despite treasonous ghouls like Farage doing their best to undermine him.

NEW: Keir Starmer tells MPs the UK govt remembers the "mistakes of Iraq" and will always operate on a "lawful basis" and with a "viable thought through" plan when it comes to Iran. Clear implication from PM is that he thinks the initial US/ Israeli strikes on Iran were neither.
