#QueerWritersChat A4 Some are down right ornery! I do get surprises now and again. Stephanie from my rock star romance holds in a lot of pent up anger, and at the start of her book, she apologizes to her behavior that came from there. They can't get together without healing that wound.

#QueerWritersChat A3 None of my current set of characters have direct healing experiences. No doctors, nurses, witches, or mages. I have had characters in the past who are directly in the healing arts. Otherwise, my characters heal emotional wounds as friendships and other relationships form.

#QueerWritersChat A2 Writing can be a healing activity, but it isn't always. I've discovered things about myself through fiction, and it's become something that's a part of myself. Writing is what I do because I can't NOT do it. Of course, representation and recognition in fic is healing.

#QueerWriters #Goals I've been off for a month. No real reason. So I'm going to start the week (my birthday week!) with some writing goals since I'm taking paid time off. Write at least 20 mins Daily. Finish the Mexican dragon short story by 10:00am Saturday, so I can read it to my writer's group.

#WeeknightWriters A5: Support? I want more support for the truly small creators. To be able to get advertisement backing from those vendors who do campaigns for you or to NOT have to pay maintenance fees for distribution. I don't have 20 reviews total, and I only just passed 500 lifetime sales. 🧵

#WeeknightWriters A4 Self-publishing struggles I would say the engagement game is hard. This month of April, I've barely been on social media. I'm not the loudest shouter. So I haven't done anything to help myself in that regard. I don't always want to be ON, and I feel the pressure to be.

#WeeknightWriters A3 What I like about self-publishing I like the immediacy of it and the fact that I can do what I want, even if the only audience for it is me. I'm still very selfish in that regard. Sometimes I'm writing because *I* want to know what happens. Other readers are bonus.

#WeeknightWriters A2: Self-publishing? I've been self-publishing for almost 5 years. In that time, I've put out 7 titles of my own, which break down as: 2 series, and 3 unrelated stand-alones Or 2 novels, 2 novellas, 1 novelette, and 2 short stories Yes, I'm a numbers/stats nerd.

#WeeknightWriters A5 Wish me good dragon thoughts. I'm going to write a short story for a sub. I'm mixing my own experience as a librarian and mixing it with a dragon to riff on "bookworm". Hoped-for result, I sell a short story to an anthology.

#WeeknightWriters A4 I have a lot of tasks to get done at my day job, things with a timeline. I need to write out the list so I don't miss anything. After that, during the first week of May, I have my birthday, paid time off (again), and hopefully my roof repair. Must prepare so all goes well!

#WeeknightWriters A2 I need help with personality types for my 3 MCs in the polyam story. I asked @msocampowrites.bsky.social for help on this, too. If I know a character's defense mechanism, how do I get around that? Any good sources. (Answers will help fix a plot hole/keep story going).

#WeeknightWriters A1 I'm holding up by disconnecting. I haven't written lately (noted in the intro), but I haven't been online much, either. Been offline doing things like playing piano and arts and crafts. I needed a brain break, but doing that has helped restore my own peace.

#weeknightwriters A3 This week's joy Over the weekend I did some perspective drawing as part of my drawing challenge. It reminded me how I used to do that kind of art extensively when I was 11. I taught myself based on inspiration from an album cover. It was a lovely reminder of my artistic self.

#QueerWriters This week, I'm... Writing 12-20 minutes a day on my main WIP (polyam rockstar romance). For giggles, just to help momentum, I may try to do 3 pages for my incubus world story. I'd like some forward momentum, and the act of physically writing does wonders.
