The Naked Light by Bridget Collins. Loved this historical folk horror, underpinned by a love story and where the darkness rising in a quaint village makes a beautiful heartbreaking metaphor for the unthinkable terrors of the Great War.

Absolutely loved loved loved this smart and beautifully written page turner by Nicci Cloke, in which a young woman is accused of poisoning four men at a private members club - her story told by five men who question whether they ever really knew her. Just brilliant! A perfect summer read #amreading

I've got some edits to finish and then I am leaping into this beauty! Just out this week, HER MANY FACES, by Nicci Cloke, an incredibly talented writer. I know as soon as I start this thriller that'll be it until I turn the last page!

A twisty, spooky haunted house story where nothing is quite what it seems. HOME BEFORE DARK by Riley Sager.

Abigail Dean is such an incredible writer! I loved Day One and her latest, The Death of Us, does not disappoint. A dark, astute, heartbreaking but also ultimately optimistic novel about a couple who are subject to a home invasion and whether love can survive an unimaginable horror.

Absolutely tore through @northernmailman.bsky.social’s Hunter, a very funny, discursive detective story on the Pynchon tip. I was reminded of Stephen Frears’ ‘Gumshoe’ film too (a fave), in its combo of noir quick-fire dialogue & brassy Northern banter.
