Artsy-craftsy. Angsty. Assonant. Obsessed with old stuff and weird stuff and kids’ books. She/her.
“Oohhh, I hope my greedy sister isn’t watching!” This Albuquerque episode of Antiques Roadshow is just right.

A reminder to take what you’re learning now about how vulnerable people are targeted by government and remember that they remain vulnerable under ANY administration. We need real reform and legal protections. Gift article:

MMR vaccine doesn’t just prevent measles, mumps, and rubella. It also prevents RFK Jr. from showing up at your child’s funeral to exploit your grief at your most vulnerable moment.

Is this great? Is this what you want our country to be? Because if it is, God help you when someone who hates you takes power.

You know what the “paid agitators” insanity reminds me of? The part in Pride & Prejudice when Mr. Collins can’t believe someone like Lizzy won’t accept his proposal. Oh no, it is simply “the usual practice of elegant females” to increase his “suspense.” Her bafflement and frustration is REAL —> 1/2

Yes to this. It's great to go TO the library, or it's great to find books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers (sigh, if you must), shows, music, and movies VIA the library with Libby, Hoopla, Kanopy, PressReader, etc. <3

Hey man sorry to hear about all your political turmoil. Would it help if I scrolled around on the computer all day and drove myself insane?

Pete Hegseth isn’t DEI. Daniel Penny isn’t DEI. That’s not what DEI is. They’re just grossly unqualified for their jobs and add no value that any replacement legacy job applicant wouldn’t bring. So stop saying “it’s DEI” like it’s a clever commentary on the situation. It’s not.

This is a great piece. "As deportations ramp up again, we have a choice: We can watch as our neighbors disappear or we can build on these proven strategies to protect the diverse communities we've built together."

Tonight’s random YouTube find has Tim Curry in a very jaunty bathing costume (plus Michael Palin & Stephen Moore in theirs). It’s directed by Stephen Frears & adapted from Jerome K Jerome’s novel by Tom Stoppard: Three Men in a Boat (1975). Never knew this existed!

If I’m honest one of the main reasons I find certain social media platforms hard to give up is that I need an outlet for showing off my books. I just thrifted this c1979 copy of Grimms’ Fairy Tales. Art is by Luděk Maňásek. I don’t NEED any more Grimm collections—but this is full of lovely illos. 💗

If you want to read that horrifying article about Neil Gaiman but can’t get past Vulture’s paywall, it’s also printed in the Jan. 13–26 issue of New York Magazine… which I was able to access for free from my library via Libby.
