For anyone worrying about Shōta Imanaga after his poor performance tonight/rough stretch lately, I totally get it. If there’s any silver lining, the Padres might be the perfect matchup for him in October. Only the Cardinals and Pirates have hit fewer home runs than the Padres have this season.

If the Cubs win both tonight and tomorrow afternoon and clinch the #4 seed on their own terms before the Padres even play another game, that opens the door wide open for the DBacks. They play the Padres this weekend, who wouldn’t have anything left to play for at that point.
