Anyone in the northern half of Georgia have a cat trap I can use? We've one, but we have 2 kittens that need trapping (and an older tom if we can get him), so it would be nice to at least grab both kittens and bring them in together for TNR, since they can keep each other calm.

My father's home from the hospital finally. A bit weak. Now on supplemental oxygen. But happy to be home again (as we are that he's home). Still not a lot of answers, but I'll take the wins where we can get them. His 98th birthday is in 2 weeks.

The dilute calico kitten outside, whom my wife has given the moniker 'Doofus' for the time she pushed her own food bowl over, has already been to the bowl this morning and emptied a good portion of it. This is good. I didn't see her at all yesterday. She's not as skinny as the tabby, but still small

Okay. NAS back up. Data accessible and backing up. Can't do a proper drive check until data is backed up (which will be half the day), but things are mostly back to normal, I hope. Had to restore a few things from backup because of corruption from the failed cache. Won't use THAT again...

So... I was correct in what broke the NAS. A very poor caching implementation. A dead cache drive rendered the data volumes unusable. That should NEVER happen. Apparently, you can't swap out, either. Caching needs to be deactivated before swap or the same will occur. That... makes cache unwise here.

Sipping on a cup of Imperial grade silver needles tea and watching the two kids outdoors nibble on food I just brought out. I think they're hanging around a little closer to the food more often these days, so it may be time to put out traps soon.

Some days I am an okay TIG welder. Today was not one of those days. I managed to make a little grounding error that, thankfully, didn't do more damage than it did (minor). Today was also a weird day for chemistry I don't fully understand yet. Overall, mistakes were made. At least there's tomorrow.

Little Tiger is VERY upset with me right now because I kept him from eating a lizard. I stole his toy (which ran away, and I've NO idea where it went). He hissed at me, and is furious. *sigh* Worst dad ever.

Little orange boys are upstairs, thundering about like madcats, and it's one of the cutest sounds. It reminds me that we brought in some little abandoned kittens, kept them safe and loved, and gave them a home, and now they feel safe enough in random parts of the house to play in it.

The sounds Big Tiger makes when he sees one of the little kittens outside are awful. How quickly he forgets what it was like to be a scared little kitten outside in the cold... Only two of the outdoor kittens have reliably been by for food -- a silver tabby and a dilute calico.

Took the food bowl in yesterday evening at dark, because we don't need the raccoons to keep stealing the empty bowls. Dumped the leftover food out on the stair in case the cats came by. Reginald (our local opossum) showed up at 8. The dilute calico kitten came at 8:30. Then Reg back to finish at 9.

I just got back from the hospital. Dad's been moved out of ICU to a regular room. They still don't really know what's wrong, but he's been able to get a little sleep, and I being moved out of ICU is a good sign. I will take all the wins. Thanks for all the well-wishes. It's been a stressful week.

I have to say, we've not had a lot of good Hallowe'ens over the years. I think I'm about ready to chuck this holiday in the bin.

My dad's in the ICU tonight. I could use some positive vibes.

I never thought I would make it to 1K :D I'm a hobbyist 3D artist, I started posting my art online only last year though I've been learning Blender for almost 3 years. I'm still learning and in the future I want to either focus on game-ready 3d models or surrealistic landscapes.

You know when you get old and every joint crackles when you move? Imagine that, but for breathing. After my last esophageal surgery, every time I breathe, there's a faint crackling sound like crepitus, but in my lungs. It's intensely disturbing in the quiet hours.

One year ago today... White Tip had finally discovered the wonder of snuggling in a basket. I hate myself for not being able to keep her safe. Miss her every day. 😢 So do her brothers. Especially Two Bands. He still waits for her to come back home.

Going through a quick cost sheet for buying insurance for the new pieces as they head to the photographer, and realising my costs on chains have now doubled because of tariffs and silver increases. SO... going to have to reprice the catalogue... again... I hate this timeline.

I don't know where the whole 'orange cats are stupid' concept came from, but it's nonsense. One of our boys figured out how to open the cat gate (but thankfully wasn't physically able because of the design), and I just watched Big Tiger try and open the basement door. He can't do it with paws YET...

Fun with bending thick pieces of silver. Feel like I've spent half the day just annealing. First to roll to size, then to bend and shape. Over and over. Work a little. Anneal. Work a little. Anneal...

Joe spent the night in a completely different room last night. This may well be the first time he did not sleep all night on his pillow since we brought him in. This is HUGE. The sunroom they were first brought into is his safe space. That he's getting more comfortable leaving it is a big deal.
